I am the French teacher in the following fourth grade homerooms: Mr. Ashton and Ms. Brown.
Unit 1: Les Extraterrestres
An alien visits a French Canadian school, and has a few adventures. We will cover the vocabulary for classroom materials, school subjects, places around the school, time, and what we "do" (verbs) at school. New songs introduced: La salle de classe, Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire, Nos amis, les extraterrestres.
Fun fact: "Charlemagne (c.742-814), also known as Karl and Charles the Great, was a medieval emperor who ruled much of Western Europe from 768 to 814. In 771, Charlemagne became king of the Franks, a Germanic tribe in present-day Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and western Germany." He was also known as "The Education Emperor" because of his interest in promoting literacy and he reformed the palace school and founded monastery schools. The students learned a song called "Sacré Charlemagne" which is a classic song taught to all young French kids. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4kTvlgtM7I)
