MOI
I am thrilled to begin my 18th year at Morris Brandon. Previously, I taught elementary French for six years in a private school close by. I have three university degrees: a Bachelor’s in English from l’Université François Rabelais, in Tours, France, a Bachelor’s in French from Rutgers University, and a MATL (Master of Arts degree in the Teaching of Languages) from the University of Southern Mississippi. I have accompanied the summer trip to France - 12 days visiting Normandy and Paris - with Brandon post graduates (rising 6th graders) twice- once in 2011 and once in 2014.
I have a passion for what I do and I want to do it well. I feel grateful every day to work in a profession that I genuinely love. Some of my hobbies include watching soccer, traveling, cooking and hiking.
I can be reached by email at: [email protected], or fill out the contact form below. I will do my very best to respond within 24 hours.
Tutorial will be offered Thursdays from 3:00-3:30 pm. You are required to arrange tutorial by email first before your child can attend.

THE FRENCH PROGRAM / METHODOLOGY
Getting the kids speaking is vital. This happens through the vehicle of competitions, role-plays, skits, interviews, communication lines (or circles); asking students to create raps, work in pairs or groups, and present projects, etc. I also strive to continually integrate the four language skills: speaking, writing, listening, and reading. When students have opportunities to speak in an activity that is contextualized, meaningful, and connected to their real world experience, as well as opportunities to negotiate meaning with each other, they progress more rapidly in second language acquisition. Communicative Language Teaching is at the core of my lesson plans.
We use a multitude of visual aids, gestures, dramatizations, and music that facilitate learning. The students are not expected to understand every word, yet they generally grasp the meaning of each topic. There is no pressure, however, the children love to participate and speak in French. The best way for them to demonstrate their learning to you is as it comes naturally. Perhaps in the grocery store as you pass the fruit and vegetables, they may tell you the French vocabulary. You will be amazed. Please remember not to ask for translations, as this is a totally separate skill.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT MY CHILD AT HOME?
This is not a requirement but sometimes parents would like to purchase DVDs, CDs, and books in French to give their children more exposure at home. Please visit www.wor.com for these types of materials. Cindy Tracy, the owner, can recommend appropriate beginners choices.
